1935-1945: REA - the beginning of a brighter countryside
- December 17, 1935- Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws were signed.
- 1935-1938- Federated shared an office with Federated Cooperative Oil Association.
- 1936- Federated's first general manager, Paul Ferguson, was hired.
- April 2, 1936 - Federated applied to the Rural Electrification Administration (REA) for its first construction loan ($50,000). The co-op had 592 stockholders.
- October 8, 1936 (See Picture at right)- A groundbreaking ceremony marked the first line construction near Lakefield.
- March 7, 1937- The first section of line was energized from Lakefield to Round Lake.
- 1938 - An office was rented at 607-1/2 Second Street, Jackson.
- 1939 (See Picture above) - Annual Meeting at Jackson Armory
- April 16, 1940 (See Picture at right)- An Open House was conducted for Federated's new headquarters at 310 Sherman Street, Jackson. It was built for $8,000.
- December 2, 1941- Purchased Martin County Electric Company for $65,000, which connected Jackson and Martin Counties.
- 1940s- World War II causes a severe shortage of manpower. Work orders were approved on an animal unit basis for limited line construction.
